National Martini Day – We’ll Drink to That!

We’ve arrived at another exciting, boozy holiday – that’s always something to celebrate! But it’s VERY hot in the desert and the last place we want to spend our time is in the kitchen cooking up cocktails. We’re hitting the streets for this one, and we’re rounding up our lucky seven favorite spots to grab a martini in Vegas.

  1. Blue Martini

There’s literally DOZENS of classic and crafted cocktails to choose from, so this could be the place to post up for a long evening. Can’t choose? We have a hard time, too! A hands-down favorite is the Bellini Martini, which mixes a vodka base with peach, orange juice, and sparkling wine. You might just feel like you’re cruising down a Venetian canal. Prefer a gin martini? Try the refreshing Cucumber!

  1. Downtown Cocktail Room

National Martini Day falling on a Wednesday? That’s a happy coincidence, considering our favorite martini at DCR is called Making Fetch Happen. It’s pink (of course) and features vodka, strawberry dill puree, and lemon juice. If you don’t feel like sitting with The Plastics today, go for the Income Tax, a gin martini with both dry and sweet vermouth, fresh orange, and Angostura bitters.

  1. Juniper Cocktail Lounge

Juniper knows their gin, and they make a MEAN Dirty Martini. With a Sapphire Dry Gin and Dry Vermouth base, the martini is beautifully complemented by orange bitters, rosemary, and even an olive form. For a fun, fruitier cocktail, try the The Little Birdie, made with gin, strawberry, vermouth and fresh lemon. The best part? It’s served in an adorable glass bird.

  1. Bound Bar (The Cromwell)

The Cromwell’s lobby bar is a sophisticated spot to enjoy a couple martinis with a couple of your best friends. The vibe is classy and intimate, and the experienced mixologists can whip up a wide variety of tasty cocktails. You’ll love the Breakfast Martini, which combines Bombay Sapphire Gin with Cointreau, fresh lemon juice, and orange marmalade. It’s like a delightful evening mimosa, with a little more fire!

  1. Peppermill

What better occasion for a dessert martini? Look no further than the Key Lime Pie Martini by Peppermill, which features vanilla vodka, Midori Melon and pineapple juice, shaken with whipped cream and served in a glass rimmed with graham cracker crumbs. It’s absolutely decadent! The timeless lounge serves up tons of other amazing and unique cocktails, so spend some time exploring your taste buds on this special, boozy holiday.

  1. The Dorsey (The Venetian)

Tucked inside The Venetian, The Dorsey is an ornate, sophisticated spot serving up cocktails by award-winning bartender, Sam Ross. You’ll love the aptly-named Easy Street, a refreshing vodka-based cocktail lightened with cucumber, elderflower, and lemon. It’s definitely the most fun way to beat the heat.

  1. Center Bar (Hard Rock)

This rockin’ spot at the heart of the Hard Rock Casino is known for its action and amazing cocktails. They make the perfect classic martini, with your choice of Bombay Sapphire Gin or Grey Goose Vodka, dry vermouth, and delightfully complemented with bleu cheese stuffed olives. If you need a little after work boost, try the All Nighter Espresso Martini, featuring vanilla vodka, kahlua, Bailey’s Irish Cream, and espresso.

Happy National Bourbon Day!

In honor of this very important holiday, we’re sharing our favorite recipe for the always refined, Old Fashioned.

You’ll need:

  • 2 oz. of your favorite bourbon (ours is Knob Creek)

  • Splash of club soda

  • 1 sugar cube

  • Angostura bitters

Place one sugar cube in a glass. Add three dashes of bitters and a splash of club soda. Crush with a muddler (or spoon if you ain’t that fancy) and gently swish around the glass. Add a handful of ice cubes and then pour the bourbon over the ice. Add an orange twist to garnish.

Christine Aguilera: The Xperience

Christina Aguilera debuted her residency The Xperience this past weekend with back-to-back shows at Zappos Theatre at Planet Hollywood, and she did not disappoint. Christina belts as powerfully as she has for decades now, featuring a 90-minute set of new music and her older chart-toppers that have everyone on their feet. Christine Aguilera: The Xperience is an incredible multisensory performance, thrilling fans with colorful visuals, powerful sound, and even nose-tingling scents. Lady Gaga: Enigma + Jazz & Piano

Lady Gaga is back in Vegas on June 6th for her residency at the Park Theatre at MGM, and we couldn’t be more excited. The Enigma show, which debuted in late 2018, blew fans away with Gaga’s “back-to-roots” performances, featuring grandiose costumes and set pieces alike. Gaga’s Jazz and Piano shows were equally compelling, reflecting her deep emotion and individuality. Lady Gaga: Enigma + Jazz & Piano shows are scheduled throughout June, October and November.

Mom Deserves a Mimosa

Not able to whip up the spectacular Mother’s Day brunch that mom deserves? Don’t sweat it. Nothing will make her happier that a mimosa – and that’s a recipe anyone can master!

(Do two ingredients constitute a recipe?)

If you’ve boozed through your share of brunches, you’ll know that everyone crafts their mimosas differently. HINT: The best restaurants let you DYI – not only can you pour them as you like, you pester your server less, and you don’t need to feign embarrassment when ordering your third drink. And while a lot of people aim to hit that 50/50 ratio, we think the ultimate mimosa needs just a splash of OJ (or, when we’re counting calories, even just a droplet!).

How do you like your mimosas? Unlimited is key – I trust we can agree on that much 😊

Let Vegas Be Your Valentine

Once a year, Valentine’s Day shows up on February 14th, whether we love it or not.  For those of you who have a significant other, the options abound across the valley, from resplendent brunches to romantic dinners.

Then, there are those of you out there who simply would rather this day not exist at all, as you are single, not romantically involved, or otherwise sitting this one out……but wait!  You have options too!!

Tilted Kilt at Linq hosts “Jilted Kilt’, for all you loners in the valley.  They say, “Single and ready to mingle? Join us this Valentine’s Day for our Jilted Kilt Valentine’s Day Party!” All day Hoppy Hour with drink and food specials! And our Kilt Girls will be dishing out fabulous swag and giveaways all night long. Feeling lucky? Pop a red balloon and win a fabulous prize (while supplies last). You don’t want to miss this one!  So let’s get this party started!

House of Blues Crossroads – “Anti-Valentine’s Day” party where “love stinks drinks” specials will flow, and if you bring a photo of your ex to hang on the “selfie shame board”, you’ll receive free shots while entertainers play their notes, starting at 6pm until who knows when…There is something for everyone at the House of Blues Vegas. See you there!

Beer Park Budweiser  is throwing a “Picnic in the Park” for Valentine’s day where all you loners (and lovers, too!) can enjoy your own picnic basket dinner while watching a romantic movie played against the backdrop of the Las Vegas Strip.  But then, if you prefer, February 15th the Beer Park will host a “Singles Awareness Day” with a featured film that is “loveless”, and if you bring a photo of your ex to shred, you’ll receive a complimentary Budweiser signature draft to murmur sweet nothings to. Enjoy!

Apex Social Club,  along with Las Vegas Weekly, is hosting “Cupid is Stupid” the Anti-Valentine’s party on February 15th with DJ Que where it’s all about you.  Dance, drink, socialize, and get out there and meet some new people. You’ll be glad you did. RSVP

American Beer & Cocktails invites all you single ladies to join us for Valentine’s Day where you can enjoy an open bar for only $14!  That’s almost like winning the lottery!…Well, maybe not, but think about all the fun you’ll have this year!

Pancho’s Mexican Restaurant  is offering all single ladies out there two 40 oz. margaritas using Sauza Blue Reposado tequila for $23.  Yum! Sit back and enjoy the music of pianist Grant Peacock as he tickles the ivory at your requests. This could get exciting ladies!

Maverick Helicopters offers “Savory Bites & Neon Lights” that flies you to five top of the line restaurants in Las Vegas, with 15 wonderful dishes to delight your palate and blow your mind with views you can’t get anywhere else but Vegas!  Gratuity, pick-up and drop-off from Maverick. RSVP

Wherever you decide to enjoy this Valentine’s Day, make it a safe time and always have a designated driver.  Cheers!!
